Marine Educative Area "Generation 4": Species identification

Marine Educative Area

Today, the students of 7ème A at Fontvieille School discovered the most common species of fish in the Mediterranean, each one as fascinating as the next.

The workshop involved memorizing key identification points to recognize 23 fish species. Subsequently, using a PowerPoint presentation as a guide, the students conducted their first on-site (or nearly on-site) fish counting, applying the FAST protocol, a tool used in citizen science to assess the status of fish populations.

Just like during a real dive, they recorded their observations on scoring sheets for later analysis of the collected data.
