Marine Educative Area "Generation 4": Visit to the fishmonger

Marine Educative Area

Today, the students of 7ème A from Fontvieille School visited the Condamine market to observe the fishmonger's stall.

They asked questions about the fishing techniques used, the fish species on display, and the current fishing regulations. Using a tape measure and gloves, they measured the size of the fish to later compare this data in class with the recommended fishing sizes.

A big THANK YOU to Mr. Rinaldi for his hospitality, kindness, and the shrimp tasting!!!

The outing continued to Port Hercule, where the students retrieved the fish trap after 3 months of submersion to assess the degradation of their waste. It is genuinely challenging to distinguish paper/cardboard waste as they have amalgamated into a sticky paste. However, plastic, metal, and glass waste are still persistent, some even intact. The children observed some species of algae and worms developing on their waste.

Looking forward to the next assessment!
