Marine Educative Area “Generation 5” : Ecological diagnostic

Marine Educative Area

Today, Dr Alexis Pey (Thalassa Marine research & Environmental awareness) presented to the students the ecological diagnosis of the MEA making it possible to identify and characterize habitats and species of ecological interest but also to identify factors that could alter ecosystems.

The data collection methods were explained before communicating the results and specifying the ecological importance of many species of the MEA.

A focus on the remarkable species such as the dusky grouper and the brown meagre raised awareness of the value of their enhanced protection.

The different pressures linked to human activities were also addressed in order to emphasize the importance of their regulation.

CONGRATULATIONS again to the students for their involvement and their good questions!

Program supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Government of Monaco.
