Marine Educative Area "Generation 5" : Launching day

Marine Educative Area

This morning took place the presentation of the Marine Educative Area to the students of the 7ème A class of Ecole Saint Charles, in charge of the project for the 2022-2023 school year.

A reminder was made concerning the origin of the concept initiated in French Polynesia by the children themselves. The operating principles of the Marine Educational Area were then explained to the students and in particular the interest of setting up, within the class, a Children's Council for the sea, a body of reflection allowing them to build their "action for the sea”. The general theme of the year was also communicated and delighted the whole class: cetaceans!

A very beautiful subject which will be carried out in collaboration with numerous partners including the members of the permanent secretariats of ACCOBAMS and the Pelagos Agreement, equally delighted to participate in this new adventure.

The session ended with the screening of the film presenting the different ecosystems of the Marine Educative Area which, lets not forget, is located within the Pelagos sanctuary.

This program is strongly supported by the Government of Monaco and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation as well as by all stakeholders, public or private, who wish to make their contribution to raising awareness among children regarding the protection of the seas and oceans.
