Marine Educative Area "Generation 5" : Summary

Students in the 7ème A class at École Saint-Charles chose this year to raise awareness among users about the preservation of cetaceans through the production of a film.

This project was made possible thanks to the interventions of members of the permanent secretariats of ACCOBAMS (Mesdames Camille Montiglio and Maÿlis Salivas) and the Pelagos Accord (Ms Viola Cattani), as well as Messrs David Gamba (Fédération Monégasque de Pêche Sportive) and Stéphane Jamme (Aquanaute Expertise).

Furthermore, as part of Monaco Ocean Week 2023, workshops were offered on the theme of sustainable and eco-responsible management of the marine environment in relation to cetacean conservation issues. MEA students were able to pass on their knowledge to other classes who also participated in this ocean week. They also had the chance to speak with Messrs. Jean-Albert Lièvre and Julien Seul, respectively director and producer of the documentary film “Les Gardiennes de la Planète”. This moment of sharing allowed the students to better understand the constraints to be respected in order to produce the awareness film planned as part of the MEA.

Mr Anthony Alberti alias Mr OneTeas supported this project through the creation of a collective work based on the messages chosen by the students.

The commitment of generation 5 of the AME was honored on June 23 with the screening of the awareness film and the presentation of the collective work in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and several personalities and actors of the sea of the Principality.

We thank again all our partners who made this project successful: the Government of Monaco, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the members of the ACCOBAMS and Pelagos Accord secretariats, the Rotary Club of Monaco, the Méridien Beach Plaza,Féderation Monégasque de Pêche Sportive and Thalassa Marine research & Environmental awareness!
