Monaco's MPAs Management Plan

Marine Protected Areas

Since late 2019, the AMPN, in collaboration with members of the Scientific Council, the State Services, numerous Institutions of the Principality, and with the support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, has been working on the development of the management plan for Monaco's Marine Protected Areas.

The initial steps involved gathering the necessary data to establish the diagnosis of the Marine Protected Areas, which was validated last June in the presence of all stakeholders.

Today, the consulting firm BRL Ingénierie, which is assisting us in this process, presented the intervention strategy, including the major long-term objectives. These objectives were approved by the Steering Committee held at the auditorium of the Lycée Technique et Hôtelier de Monte-Carlo.

The next steps will focus on the operational aspect to determine the action plan to be implemented. A great example of "shared management" based on consultation and the willingness of everyone to work in the same direction.
