MPA presentation at École des Révoires in CM2 class : Intervention n°2

Marine Protected Areas

This afternoon, the 7th grade class of Révoires school visited the Larvotto seaside complex. The students were welcomed by the team of the AMPN for the second intervention of a series of three focusing on the theme of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).

After a brief general introduction, the students had the opportunity to explore the MPA more closely by walking along the promenade. This allowed them to closely observe terrestrial facilities such as shops, informational panels, and waste management systems, as well as marine elements such as buoys, artificial dikes, and geotubes.

The continuation of the intervention was supposed to take place directly along the edge of the MPA, but the weather conditions forced us to find an alternative. We would like to sincerely thank the Méridien Beach Plaza hotel for generously hosting us to provide a sheltered space for the children.

This last part of the workshop allowed the students to play the role of managers and understand the challenges we face, including fishing and navigation regulations, as well as the preservation of marine species and habitats.

Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, the students appreciated participating in an outdoor activity near the MPA.

We would like to once again express our gratitude to the Méridien Beach Plaza hotel for their support and commitment to the environment.

A big THANK YOU to the teacher, chaperones, and the school administration of Révoires school for giving us the opportunity to raise awareness among students about the importance of Marine Protected Areas!
